Thanks for the response. Long term care is expensive. Long term care insurance is a small fraction of the cost of care and will help to insure that you remain independent and that you will not burden your family if you need care.
In NY State anyone who has a tax qualified long term care policy and pays NY State tax is entitled to a 20% tax credit (not a deduction). 
There is a Federal tax deduction, the amount of which is determined by your age, but you have to itemize on schedule A and you have to have over the required amount for health care deduction (over 7.5% of your net income).]]></description>
